My Weekend in Chattanooga!

My work is opening a new store in Chattanooga in the next few months. This is something I am super excited about since Chattanooga is one of my most favorite places to visit. Just last weekend I headed to Chattanooga for the weekend to attend the Home and Remodeling Expo. The company I work for had a booth at the show. I am thankful I have friends who are always willing to come along for the ride. Morgan and Erica decided to spend the weekend with me. It really made my weekend of work a lot better. We had a blast. Our weekend include fabulous food, enjoying the downtown area, endless games of Uno, and too many laughs and giggles to count.

Home Sweet Home Online Auction - SHOP for a CAUSE!

SafeHouse
You may or may not know that I serve on the Board of Directors for SafeHouse of Shelby County. I believe in giving back to the community that you belong too. SafeHouse is a shelter that serves women and children who have been victims to abuse. This is an amazing organization. If you are currently looking for volunteer experience in the Birmingham area please let me know. I would love to connect you with someone from SafeHouse.

This September, SafeHouse of Shelby County will celebrate a quarter century of service for victims of domestic and sexual violence. In honor of the occasion, we're hosting Home Sweet Home, an online auction to benefit our programs. This event will create much-needed funding that will start our next twenty-five years with the resources we need to reach more victims than ever before.  Please visit our auction store at http://stores.ebay.com/safehouseshelby

Jake Owen = Amazing Concert...thanks Groupon!

I have to say that Groupon is such a fabulous thing. I can't wait to check my email each day with the newest specials that Groupon has to offer. I have purchased some great things from the site. About a month ago I saw where concert tickets for Jake Owen's concert were $20 bucks each. That is a steal! Since, Mason is on the terrible 2nd shift he was not able to attend with me. So I invited one of my best friends, Brant to the concert. Brant is a county music fan and he was the perfect person to attend with. We had a blast. The concert way exceeded my expectations. I LOVE Jake Owen. He was so interactive with his fans. I loved when we brought two little boys on stage to sing with him. It was such a great concert!

I didn't come here to make friends-Courtney Robertson...Book Review!

One of my best friends, Anna told me I had to read Courtney Roberson's book..."I Didn't Come Here to Make Friends" . I'll have to admit that I was a little hesitant because I was NOT a Courtney fan. I watched her on Ben's season of The Bachelor. She seemed very mean and catty. Almost like a bully. I know that Reality TV can work their magic and twist and turn things around to make someone on the show the villain. However, I almost did not want to give this girl any of my money. She was mean...I didn't want to buy a book from someone I didn't like Haha.  However, after hearing Anna say how great it was, I gave it a chance. I downloaded this book to my ipad and finished in within 24 hours. That is how good it was! I know it's not a large book but still I did not want to put it down.  Of course if you are not a bachelor fan it may not be that good to you. I loved reading all the inside information that Courtney gave about the show. More than anything I was completely shocked at what a jerk Ben was to her. I believe that Courtney did make some bad judgement calls during the show. However, who am I to judge. You live and you learn. I think this is a great book to remind you things aren't always what they seem. I tweeted Courtney has soon as I finished the book. I was so happy when she favorited my tweet. Hey...it's the little things! If you are looking for a good read I suggest this book. I loved the juicy details and the realness of Courtney. I can now say I am #teamCourtney!

Tripp's Baby Shower! Inspiration Boards!

Since our little nephew Tripp will be making his debut in early December all I can think about is showering his mom, my sister in law Erin with a perfect shower. We have decided on the theme, it will be Frogs, Snails and Puppy dog tails. I have always thought this is a cute saying and his Mom, Erin came up with the theme. Once we had a theme nailed down it was time to get to work. Since, the shower will be in October I feel like we have plenty of time to get everything together for little Tripps shower. I can't wait to shower Tripp and Erin with lots of love & goodies. Below are some of my ideas for the shower.

Why I love Birmingham!

I have lived in Birmingham for 6 years now. I really feel like I have a good understanding of this city and what it has to offer. I know I am partial to Birmingham because this is the city I went I first came to when I moved for college, it's the city where I fell in love, bought a house, and started my career. Birmingham will always hold a special place in my heart. But even if you don't have the emotional ties to this city there are still plenty of great things you should check out. Below is my list of the Top Ten Must See/Do Things in the Iron City.

1.The Vulcan statue is the largest cast iron statue in the world, and is the city symbol of Birmingham. I love Vulcan is just minutes away from my work. I love to see it overlooking our city. I have had so many fun times here.
2. Tannehill- A beautiful state park that is very close to our house. We love attend Tannehill's Trade Days to look for treasures.

3. Moss Creek Preserve - Is one of our most favorite places because it backs up to our dream neighborhood. The setting is beautiful. This particular picture was taken last year at the Moss Creek Festival.

4. Regions Field...the Home of the Birmingham Barons! I can't say enough great things about this ballpark. Everything about it is awesome.

5. Tunnel of Lights. This is a hidden gem for Birmingham. It's a must see if you are downtown one night.

6. Railroad Park- I have very fond memories of walking at Railroad park when I worked for the nonprofit. We would take the kids in the program to the park for fresh air a good bit. It's a gorgeous park.

7. The Bright Star Restaurant- It's a tradition that me, my mom and grandmother have lunch here when they come to visit.

8. Pepper Place Farmer's Market- One of my favorite Saturday morning activies. This is such a neat part of town. I love seeing all the local vendors.

9. Barber's Motorsports Track - A really neat place to visit. Even if you aren't a avid race fan it's pretty neat to have something like this is our city.
10. Sloss Furnace - A must see if you are in the Iron City. I have attended the Sloss Fright Fest once before. I will never go back to the fright fest but I would go back to Sloss during the day time.

There are many other wonderful places to visit. Including the Summit Shopping Center, The Civil Rights Museum, Oak Mountain, and the list goes on and on. Come check our Birmingham, AL it's a great place!
