6 Months Married

Yesterday was our six month anniversary of being married. It's crazy to think that we have been married for half of a year. I can honestly say that being married to Mason is so wonderful. In these past few months we have experienced so much together. It's so easy to get caught up in the day to day of life and forget to enjoy each other. Mason surprised me with beautiful flowers yesterday and such a sweet card. It made my day! I'm so thankful for such a wonderful husband who loves, provides and protects me. I'm looking forward to making a lot of memories along the way!

Weekend Review

This weekend was wonderful. It was exactly what a weekend should be...good food, and good times with good people. Saturday morning I had to work the ZooRun at the Birmingham Zoo. Since the company I work for is a sponsor for the Birmingham Baron's Fast Food Race I thought it would be a good idea to bring the most beloved character, the taco out to the ZooRun for the kids to interact with.

After the ZooRun, I rushed home to get ready for my Brother-in-law and Sister-in-law to arrive. They live in Montgomery, which is about 90 miles away. They decided to come up and spend the weekend with us. The boy attended the Annual Regions Golf Classic. I know they had a blast. Erin and I decided we were due for a pedicure. I picked the cutest color....

Live Love & Carnaval

After pedicures and shopping, Erin and I rushed home to decorate for a surprise Birthday party for Mac. We finished just in time! Mac was surprised and it was a lot of fun!

After the fun birthday party we all got cleaned up and headed to a fun craw fish boil. The weather Saturday evening was wonderful! We had a lot of fun eating, enjoying the weather and making new friends. I hate I didn't take more pictures.

Sunday, we all went to  Tannehill State Park for Trade Days. Tannehill is not too far for our house. It's a BEAUTIFUL park that has so much character. Trade Days is the third weekend of the month starting in the April and goes until October. It's something Mason and I have always done together. We love it. I love seeing all of the different vendors and finding "treasures"!

Ending the post on something super positive...I want to wish my sweet husband a wonderful day at his NEW job! We are so blessed that this opportunity has come up. No one deserves it more. Words cannot express how happy I am that Mason will have "normal" hours. This is going to be a great thing for our family! God is so good!

Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

90 Minutes In Heaven

I am a little late on this blog post but better late than never. A month and a half ago Mason and I attended First Baptist of Athens, Alabama with my grandparents. This is their home church and when they found out that Don Piper, the author of 90 Minutes in Heaven was going to be a guest speaker at their church they called me to let me know. I read the book, 90 Minutes in Heaven my freshman year in college and loved it. I loved the book so much that I suggested my granddad, Willard read it.  Don Piper, was an excellent speaker. I really enjoyed hearing him tell the story of his experience. What I gained most for listening to Mr. Piper was God is still working miracles today. Do not be discouraged and prayer does work.

I found this summery of the book. If you have never read it it's a book I suggest reading. I really love it.

Don Piper dies in a horrific car accident. Ninety minutes after his death, Don Piper begins singing "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" inside his crushed car. In what can only be termed an amazing miracle fueled by intense faith, Don Piper dies and then lives again after spending ninety minutes at heaven's gate. For the rest of his life, Don will try to come to terms with why he was allowed to experience the comfort of heaven only to be sent back to earth, a mangled version of his former self.
Don's Ford Focus is struck by a semi-truck while crossing a bridge. The impact sends Don's car into the side of the bridge, crushing him inside. Don's left leg is shattered in two places and missing four inches of bone. His right arm is dislocated and flung over the back of the driver's seat barely attached to his body. Don is covered in glass shards and looses most of the blood in his body. Surprisingly, Don suffers no internal or head injuries. As the result of his injuries, Don spends nearly a year in the hospital and many more months at home lying in a hospital bed. Don's left leg is placed in an experimental device known as the Ilizarov frame. This frame stretches Don's leg bones in order to replace most of the missing portion. Don suffers chronic pain for the rest of his life and cannot engage in many of the activities he formerly enjoyed.
Don is a minister and his strong faith is both a source of strength and frustration during his long recovery. During the ninety minutes that Don is dead, he experiences the awe of viewing heaven. Don does not feel sadness as a result of leaving his wife and three children behind. His faith secures him in the knowledge that someday they will join him in heaven and that God will continue to provide for his family on earth. Don is enveloped by brilliant light and melodious music. He feels comfortable and warm, ready to step through the gate and see the face of God. Don never sees God because he is suddenly sent back to earth.
On earth, Don battles severe depression, constant pain and continually questions why he was sent back. Although Don's faith never wavers throughout his arduous return to health, he does wonder about the fairness of being allowed to glimpse the glory of heaven before being sent back to a life that will never be normal again. It takes thousands of people praying for Don and several close friends confronting Don about his depression and bad attitude before he begins to come to terms with the whole situation. Don eventually reaches out to other people in pain and soon becomes a role model for others being treated with the Iliazrov frame. His message of the beauty of heaven inspires many, comforts others and brings more than a few people to know the Lord. As Don's physical recovery progresses, so does his emotional and spiritual recovery. Don learns to accept help when offered and to appreciate the small accomplishments in life.

It's FINALLY Friday!

My Five Favorites on Friday!

1.) After much contemplating...I have finally decided on a color for our Master Bedroom.

Behr Paint
So now I have a few things done. I have picked the paint color, purchased the curtains and bed skirt, and purchased the bedding. My goal is to do a little bit at a time and have the bedroom completed by the end of summer. I am on a mission to find/make the perfect night stands, purchase new lamps for nightstands, and purchase new dresser for the bedroom. As you can see I still have a lot to do! But I know I will get there!

2.) I am in the process of planning a fun weekend for Mason and I. I have always wanted to attend the CMA Fest in Nashville, TN. This year I am making a point for us to go. I'm hoping that everything works out so we can attend! The best part of this event is that you can actually attend the event for FREE! It's so crazy that you can attend the "smaller" concerts for free! I can't wait!

3.) A couple weeks back, Mason and I had some pictures taken of us. I wanted a few pictures to fill the many frames I have around the house. Mason is always such a great sport and I am glad to capture these moments of us. Here are two of my favorite pictures.

4.) Without going too much in detail, I want to say that this week was very challenging for me, personally. I have been faced with some situations that I never thought I would ever have to deal with. I want to make it clear that Mason and I are great and our relationship has nothing to do with what I am talking about. But I would like to ask for prayers. I know that God tells us in the bible that he will never give us more than we can handle. I just have to trust God and know that things will be okay.

There hath no temptation taken hold of you but such as is common to man. But God is faithful; He will not suffer you to be tempted beyond that which ye are able to bear, but with the temptation will also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. - 1 Corinthians 10:13

5.) I wanted to make sure I ended on a positive note. This weekend will be filled with a lot of fun! Saturday we have plans of going to the Birmingham Barons game with some friends and Sunday we have plans to go to the race at Talledega. To be honest I don't really care about those activities I am just so excited to enjoy some time off with Mason. Hope everyone has a safe and happy weekend!
